  3. yes, base on the book i believe that the people should have be allowed to risk errors and be given the right to choose their way of life .because i belive that people learn from their mistakes and to be in a society an not to be given the chances to learn or have experiences is wrong, the totalitarianism in chapters 1 to 8 in my observation is very broad way to live because it is a word were everything is the same;everything has order and rules to keep the people from having discomfort or having wars whereas living in a world were their has emotions and conflict is much more fun to me the totalitarianism world/system makes life have no meaning.

    1. I believe that the members of the community should be given the freedom to experience new things whether the results are good or bad, because every mistake is a form of learning. I agree that the totalitarian system creates a less chaotic world as mentioned in chapters 1-8, everything is perfect, everyone receives their fair share of necessities, no one is made to bare pain and everyone is given a task. However life is not about always being perfect their are times when everyone fail. I think that the members should be able to make their own choices and express their feelings for each other because what is a world without love and emotions, nothing. They should be able to live comfortable with no worries of making mistakes and being ''release''.

    2. I concur with you. Everyone deserves their freedom but u should try and understand why they made the society that way. it was to eliminate problems like poverty by giving everyone equal amounts. They eliminated teenage pregnancy by allowing the people to be naive about sex. They eliminated the over population by allowing each man and woman to have only 2 children each.
Yes, they need their freedom but at the same time a lot of good has come from this system. and i wouldn't say they need their freedom but say that they need to be able to make their own choices because the people are not in chains. They are just deprived of being able to think.

  4. I agree with Natoya, the people should be given feedom to live freely. They should be able to make mistakes and learn from them. The totalitarian system makes life too easy for them,in life it takes a challenge to grow up along with corrections.

  5. Totalitarianism is defined as a political system in which the state holds total control over the society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life wherever possible.(found on google)
The totalitarianism system in the novel is not an awful one at all. The leader and the elders have eliminated different problems which our society faces today. take for example racism and abnormalities. In the novel no one is to point out anything different about anyone. This rule keeps people from treating others bad because of their skin tone or abnormality they might have as we see in our society today.
The society keeps everyone safe by keeping certain things from them. I think the society keeps them naive to protect them because most times being naive keeps us from trouble. Take babies for example, them being naive to most of the word keeps them at peace, gives them no worries at all.
Although this community keeps them safe it also deprives them from a lot of things that they would have maybe liked doing take for example the weather. Although the weather sometimes cause mass destruction, everyone likes a little rain once in a while.
Thinking of this society when dealing with religion, i would say that this society messes with a lot of what God made us for, like reproducing. When God made us he wanted us to multiply, the absence of sex makes it difficult for every female to be able to make one of her own children. Lack of affection also goes against the bible just a little bit because God said to love and they have removed feelings so it makes it impossible to love like we should. Not being able to embrace a family member, friend or even lover doesn't seem okay because nothing feels better than to be comforted by a sweet a hug when u are really down.
In conclusion i think that the system in the novel is not all bad and we should not say it is all bad cause it has some good and should not say its all good cause there is bad as well.

  6. SECOND POST:
this time i believe that the totalitarian show us a less chaotic world
even thou the elders may have had made some errors
because in chapters one to eight it talks about a world more civilized than ours
and although the elders may have taken out the beauty of things like music, colors and love/emotions they also took out some bad things like war ,starvation and loneliness

  7. I believe that the totalitarian system is not as bad as it sounds because it creates a less chaotic world even if it takes out the fun from experiencing new things. It does create a peaceful place with no war, pain etc.Even though the elders has taken all the fun things away like sharing feelings colours and much more the knew why they it, the had a reason for the better of the people.
